The Music Information Intelligence Team presented six papers at ISMIR 2025 (the 26th International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conference), the world’s largest international conference on music information retrieval, held in Korea, as well as at related meetings.

The photo shows the presentation of “Melody Slot Machine with RoboSax” at the ISMIR 2025 Music Program. RoboSax was developed by Professor Gou Koutaki of Kumamoto University, and Team Director Masatoshi Hamanaka of the Music Information Intelligence Team extended the team’s Melody Slot Machine system to a saxophone ensemble. Team composer Mayumi Shimada composed and arranged the music, and members of the Kumamoto University Wind Orchestra performed it. This marked the first instance in the ISMIR Music Program where both the music and performance were provided from Japan.
