On April 1, 2026, Professor Hugo Larochelle, Scientific Director of Mila (Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute), visited RIKEN AIP at the RIKEN Nihonbashi Office in Tokyo.
During his visit, Prof. Larochelle exchanged views with RIKEN AIP Center Director Professor Masashi Sugiyama, Team Director Takayuki Osa of the Robot Learning Team, and Team Director Emtiyaz Khan of the Adaptive Bayesian Intelligence Team. Meaningful discussions took place from a broad range of perspectives, including possible future research collaboration.
Prof. Larochelle also delivered a lecture entitled “AI Technology for AI Scientists.” More than 100 researchers, including online participants, attended the event, and lively discussions took place.
