The Music Information Intelligence Team has released a research introduction video titled “Creating a School Song Together with AI and the Tado Community.”
In 2024, the team organized an AI composition workshop using an AI-assisted music composition system developed by the team. The workshop involved students from four elementary schools—Tado Higashi, Tado Junior High, Tado Aoba, and Tado Kita—as well as Tado Junior High School, along with members of the local community.
The number of possible musical combinations generated by combining the materials created by the children exceeded 10⁵⁰. With the cooperation of the Cultural Intelligence Science Laboratory at Kyushu University, AI was used to evaluate the compatibility with the lyrics and generate the top 100 melody combinations.
Based on these candidate melody combinations, four school song proposals were created with the cooperation of Professor Hitomi Kaneko and students from Tokyo University of the Arts. From these four pieces, one was selected as the official school song during a selection meeting attended by Tetsuya Komuro (musician and Visiting Chief Scientist at RIKEN), among others. The recording was carried out with the support of students from Tokyo University of the Arts.
An English-subtitled version will also be prepared in the future.
