In preparation for the new event of breaking (breakdancing) at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Music Information Intelligence Team, led by Masatoshi Hamanaka, has developed a groundbreaking rhythm visualization system. This system analyzes the rhythm of breaking music, representing strong beats with long bars and weak beats with short bars. The rhythm flow is displayed on a screen, allowing the timing of the music and the moves to be visually confirmed by overlaying it with competition footage.

The system analyzed the movements of Japan’s representative, Shigeyuki Hanai (Dancer name SHIGEKIX), revealing that his exceptional core strength and balance allow him to perform the “freeze” technique with high precision. The advanced technology developed by the Music Information Intelligence Team greatly contributes to enhancing the performance of Japanese athletes heading to the Paris Olympics.
