Title: Distributions of persistent homology barcodes associated with
random samples from metric spaces

Abstract: In this talk, we give an overview of the paper by
Blumberg-Gal-Mandell-Pancia, entitled
“Robust statistics, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals
for persistent homology on metric measure spaces”(Found.Comp.Math.14(2014)),
where they introduce the probability distribution
of persistent homology barcodes associated with finite random samples
taken from a fixed metric measure space, study its properties,

and illustrate its statistical use.
