Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. in cooperation with Kyoto University, has developed a system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to predict traffic congestion. The system will improve delivery efficiency by bypassing traffic congestion and help correct long working hours for drivers. This research team includes Dr. Koh Takeuchi of the Succinct Information Processing Unit (PI: Yasuo Tabei) and Hisashi Kashima, Visiting Scientist of the AI Safety and Reliability Unit (PI: Hiromi Arai) at RIKEN AIP. This research project was featured in NIKKEI on December 27, 2023.
