The Music Information Intelligence Team has released a video of the RoboSax Melody Slot Machine, developed in collaboration with Professor Gou Koutaki Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, Kumamoto University.
The RoboSax Melody Slot Machine was selected for the Music Program at ICMC2025, where it will be showcased during a concert session. It has also been selected for the Art Gallery at IJCAI2025 and is scheduled to be exhibited there.
What is RoboSax and Melody Slot Machine?
RoboSax is a semi-automatic musical instrument that automates fingering using servo motors, allowing people who cannot read sheet music to perform music. The Melody Slot Machine is an interactive music system that leverages the concept of melody morphing—a computational operation on musical structure—to generate multiple melodies with similar structures. This allows melodies to be replaced with others without causing musical disruption. The Music Information Intelligence Team employs AI in the analysis of musical structures.
