The Best Paper Award was in recognition of a research paper, “Statistically Efficient Estimation for Non-Smooth Probability Densities,” coauthored by Visiting Scientist Masaaki Imaizumi of the High-Dimensional Statistical Modeling Unit (Unit Leader: Makoto Yamada) and Unit Leader Takanori Maehara of the Discrete Optimization Unit, both affiliated with the RIKEN Advanced Intelligence Project.
AISTATS 2018 took place from April 9 to 11 on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Out of a total of 645 papers submitted, 214 were accepted (rate of acceptance, 33.2%). Of these, 3 papers received the Best Paper Award. Oral presentations for the recognized papers took place on April 9.
