The Science, Technology, and Society Team hosted an event titled, “Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence” on October 7, 2024, at the University of Tokyo.

This event brought together leading experts from Japan and France to discuss the current state and future of artificial intelligence, as well as its relationship with society, culture, and law, particularly in regard to copyright. The event was moderated by Osamu Sakura, Team Leader of the Science, Tchnology, and Society Team. Hiroshi Nakagawa, Team Leader of the AI Utilization in Society and Legal System Team, gave a speech on “The Current State of Copyright Law and AI in Japan” and participated in a panel discussion with other panelists including Professor Alexandra Bensamoun, one of the drafters of the EU AI Act.
