The Third International Workshop on Symbolic-Neural Learning (SNL 2019) was held for two days on July 11 and 12 at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Tokyo). This workshop on artificial intelligence was hosted by the Toyota Technological Institute (Nagoya City) and its sister school in the USA, Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTI-C), together with the Center for Advanced Intelligence Project and RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP).

This time, the workshop was held in Tokyo for the first time, after being held in Nagoya in 2017 and 2018. It focused on merging learning methods for linguistic information, such as knowledge structure and symbolic information, with deep learning, such as neural-network learning. Keynote lectures and poster sessions by researchers at Google and Facebook took place as well as active discussions on research content involving domestic and international researchers.
