About AIP
In 2016, RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (RIKEN AIP) launched as a hub for world-leading AI researchers. Since then, RIKEN AIP has tackled ambitious research challenges and played a significant role in strengthening Japan’s international presence in AI. Entering its next phase, RIKEN AIP reorganized into three strategic groups. Under this renewed framework, we are poised for our next leap forward. We sincerely appreciate your continued support as we embark on this new chapter.

Organization
The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) promotes cutting-edge AI research through three core research groups.
- The Mathematical Intelligence Group advances the mathematical foundations of machine learning to enhance the reliability, interpretability, and safety of AI.
- The Domain Intelligence Group focuses on scientific and applied domains to create AI integrated with domain specific knowledge.
- The Physical Intelligence Group pursues embodied intelligence that actively interacts with the real world by bridging cognition and action.
As the application of AI rapidly expands from fundamental science to industrial and social infrastructure, RIKEN AIP continues to create the foundational technologies for a sustainable AI era.
